Hartley & Associates was founded in 2008 by James Hartley with a clear vision: to provide high-quality legal services with a personal touch. What began as a sole practitioner has grown into a respected firm with five experienced solicitors serving clients across Somerset and beyond.

Our History

After 15 years at a leading London firm, James returned to his home county of Somerset to establish a practice that would combine the expertise of a city firm with the personalised service of a local practice. The firm quickly gained a reputation for its client-focused approach and successful outcomes.

In 2012, Sarah Mitchell joined as a partner, bringing her expertise in family law and expanding the firm's capabilities. David Chen joined in 2014 to lead the property department, followed by Emma Thompson and Michael Roberts in 2019, completing our current team.
